Jinga Primary
Jinga Primary was our last school project jointly funded by the Awards for All Lottery fund (£10k) and the Penryn School Sports Partnership (PSSP). It delivered free workshops and after-school clubs to KS2 children throughout the partnership in 2009.
The objective was to promote cultural awarness, commmunity cohesion and social inclusion through non-competitive gameplay, music and dance.
We created a number of self-sustainable community capoeira clubs – based at secondary schools – exclusively for primary school children (KS2) throughout the partnership, especially in deprived areas following a series of ’taster’ days in over 70 schools.
By the end of the project in late 2009, community clubs had been established in Penryn, Pool, Falmouth, Truro and Helston.
Lottery funding ceased in August 2009. Today, the club in Mullion is still successfully running and exceeds all expectations.
