PAST PROJECTS

Jinga Primary project (2009)

Jinga Primary was a 12-month project funded jointly by the Awards for All Lottery fund and the Penryn School Sports Partnership (PSSP) for KS2.

The objective was to create a number of self-sustainable community capoeira clubs – based at secondary schools – exclusively for primary school children (KS2) throughout the partnership, especially in deprived areas.

By the end of the project in late 2009, community clubs had been established in Penryn, Pool, Falmouth, Truro and Helston.

Lotery funding ceased in August 2009. Today, the clubs in Penryn, Helston and Mullion are still successfully running with around 15 students in each location. The students pay £3 for the clubs.
